The Chairman of Oguns Investment, a subsidiary of Rainbow Tech Construction Company, Alhaji Waheed Ogunbiyi, has described Eid-el-Kabir as a symbolic pillar of Islam that embodies obedience, piety, and communal unity.
Speaking on Monday during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, Alhaji Ogunbiyi said the festival coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage and serves as a time for Muslims to reflect on faith, fulfill promises, and greet one another with “Eid Mubarak.”
He explained that the tradition traces back to Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah. “When Prophet Ibrahim attempted to sacrifice his son to show obedience, Allah sent Angel Jibril to substitute a ram. That act established the practice of animal sacrifice that Muslims observe today,” he said.
Turning to the economic situation in Nigeria, Alhaji Ogunbiyi described the current conditions as “terrible,” citing a sharp rise in the cost of living. He noted that the price of rams had increased significantly compared to last year, making it unaffordable for many households.
“Despite these challenges, I believe what goes up must surely come down. The economy will soften in the coming years, and Nigerians will see relief,” he added.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of Islam’s most significant celebrations, marked by prayers, sacrifice, and charity across the country.
