Mayor Emilagba Hosts GMT Gathering, Bolstering Support for Tinubu's 2027 Bid




...Extends welfare support through the distribution of relief items to residents of Lagos Mainland Local Government 

The Grassroots Movement for Tinubu 2027 (GMT), led by Princess Abolanle Bada, Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and Director of Local Government Affairs under the GMT structure, ably representing the Director General, Hon. Bisi Yusuf,paid a courtesy visit to Lagos Mainland Local Government on Thursday, 25th September 2025.

The delegation, which comprised past and present Executive Chairmen of Local Governments alongside other key stakeholders, was warmly received by the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor Emilagba Jubril Kolawole, at the Council Secretariat.

As part of the visit, the GMT delegation paid homage to His Royal Majesty, Oba Bashiru Abisoye, the Oloto of Otto Mainland, who pledged unwavering support for President Tinubu’s administration. The monarch assured the movement of his community’s commitment to voter registration while reiterating his dedication to peace, vigilance, and security within his domain.

In her address, Princess Abolanle Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and GMT Director of Local Government Affairs, commended President Tinubu’s administration for its progress in tackling inflation, enhancing food security, strengthening security of lives and property, and advancing youth education through the NEFUND scheme. She also highlighted government interventions in agriculture, particularly loan facilities for farmers to boost mechanized and home-based farming.

On youth empowerment,she announced that 1,000 young people under the age of 40 will soon be enrolled in various skill acquisition programs with a monthly stipend of ₦45,000. Additionally, another set of 1,000 beneficiaries per ward will be selected for wider empowerment opportunities. She urged citizens to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that the continuity of good governance depends on active civic participation.

In his remarks, Mayor Emilagba Jubril Kolawole* reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring full preparedness for the 2027 general elections across the nine (9) wards of Lagos Mainland Local Government. He emphasized the importance of the ongoing PVC registration exercise, particularly for first-time voters aged 18 and above, individuals who lost their PVCs, or those who have relocated. He assured that every effort is being made to sustain progress under the ruling party.

As part of his support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mayor Emilagba also flagged off the second phase distribution of essential *food items—including rice, beans, garri, noodles, salt, sugar, and bread—under the Ounje Emi Initiative. Over 5,000 residents of Lagos Mainland Local Government benefited from this intervention, designed to cushion the effects of economic hardship and promote grassroots welfare.

The event was graced by political leaders, community stakeholders, and residents of Lagos Mainland Local Government, further strengthening unity of purpose towards the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the re-election bid of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
