The Apapa Customs Command witnessed a change in leadership on September 8, 2025, as Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Babatunde Olomu handed over to Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba. Olomu, who has been elevated to the rank of ACG, reflected on his 15-month tenure, highlighting significant achievements in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts.
Under ACG Olomu's Tenure his achievements include;
Record-Breaking Revenue Collection: The command collected N1.834 trillion in revenue, with notable single-day collections of N17.9 billion, N18.2 billion, and N18.9 billion.
Trade Facilitation and Modernization: Apapa Port played a pioneering role in Nigeria's participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), including the first historic shipment under the Guided Trade Initiative in July 2024.
Anti-Smuggling Efforts: The command made 75 seizures, including fake and expired medicaments, controlled drugs, and other prohibited items.
Comptroller Oshoba's Priorities include;
Revenue Excellence: Oshoba pledged to sustain the tempo of revenue generation and deepen enforcement efforts.
Intelligence-Driven Operations: He emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations in combating smuggling and revenue evasion.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Oshoba stressed the need for collaboration with stakeholders and sister agencies to achieve the command's goals ¹.
The Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, Praised Olomu's efforts and assured continued partnership with the command.
Chairman of Customs Consultative Committee, Alhaji Hakeem Olarenwaju, Assured that the same support given to Olomu would be devoted to Oshoba.
Chief Executive Officer of Stoirin Maritime Services, Ademola Mumuni,Described Olomu's tenure as a success story and pledged support for Oshoba.
