Nestlé Restates Commitment to Nutrition Security Through Fortification and Education

Nestlé Nigeria has restated its commitment to tackling malnutrition and improving nutrition security in Nigeria through product fortification, responsible sourcing and community nutrition education.

The company said its purpose of enhancing quality of life through good food and nutrition remains central to its operations and community interventions.

According to Nestlé, its leading brands MILO, GOLDEN MORN, CERELAC and MAGGI are fortified with iron and other essential micronutrients to help bridge nutritional gaps, particularly among children and women who are most vulnerable to micronutrient deficiency.

The company noted that food fortification remains one of the most effective strategies to address hidden hunger and improve public health outcomes at scale.

Beyond products, Nestlé said it is driving behavioral change through its flagship nutrition education programme, Nestlé for Healthier Kids.

The initiative, implemented in schools across Ogun, FCT and Lagos States, focuses on promoting healthy eating habits, balanced diets, regular physical activity and good hygiene among school-age children. Over 35,000 children have so far been reached through the programme.

Nestlé added that the programme, delivered in partnership with teachers and education authorities, equips children with practical knowledge to make healthier food choices and live active lifestyles, in line with its global ambition to help 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030.

The company reaffirmed that it will continue to leverage its expertise in nutrition science, innovation and community engagement to support Nigeria's efforts towards achieving food and nutrition security.
