The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development commends the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, for what it described as an impressive record of performance and grassroots development within just eleven months in office.

During an official oversight inspection of projects and programmes across the Local Government, the Committee expressed satisfaction with the numerous developmental initiatives executed by the administration. These include the total renovation of Una and Kadara Primary Schools, the reconstruction of Jebba Road by Oshalanke, the total reconstruction and upgrade of the Odaliki Police Post to a Police Station, rehabilitation of box culverts and drainage systems, desilting of drainages across Lagos Mainland, the Light Up Lagos Mainland Project which has delivered over 400 street lights across the Local Government, and the upgrade of healthcare facilities at Abule Nla and Simpson Primary Health Centres.

The lawmakers also acknowledged the administration’s people centred programmes, including the monthly Ounje Emi food intervention benefiting over 3000 residents, free hernia surgeries for 34 residents, eye surgeries for 10 residents, monthly medical outreach programmes, distribution of eyeglasses, food and cash support for widows, as well as educational interventions such as the distribution of 500 GCE forms, 750 JAMB forms, and over 100,000 exercise books to public school pupils.

The Committee further applauded the administration’s investments in empowerment and human capital development through various empowerment programmes worth over #300 million, tech training for public school teachers, summer coaching and skill acquisition programmes, football competitions for the youth, the distribution of seven buses to security agencies and fourteen buses to youths as part of employment and empowerment initiatives, market fumigation exercises, the procurement of a staff bus, and the hosting of the first-ever A Day Chairman programme.

Impressed by the scale and impact of these interventions, the Committee commended Mayor Emilagba for his commitment to responsive governance and grassroots development, while offering recommendations to sustain the pace of progress.

The Committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Ganiyu Okanlawon, was accompanied by Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Samuel Apata, Hon. Adebola Shabi, Hon. Jubril AbdulKareem, and other members during the oversight visit to Lagos Mainland Local Government.
