The All Progressives Congress House of Representatives aspirant for Lagos Island Constituency 1, Hon. Babajide Obanikoro, has urged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, support the less privileged, and remain vigilant as the country marks Eid-el-Kabir.
Speaking to _Dconnectnews_ during the celebrations, Obanikoro described Salah as “a day of sacrifice and reaching out to the less privileged,” stressing the importance of being “your brother’s keeper.” He said the festival also holds personal significance for him, as it coincides with the birthdays of several family members, including his mother.
The aspirant identified Nigerian youths as the country’s primary workforce and encouraged them to remain resilient and consistent in their chosen fields.
“The youth are the backbone of Nigeria. Whether in real estate, banking, agriculture, or any other sector, their consistency and resilience will collectively drive the economy forward,” he said.
Obanikoro also advocated for political continuity, urging citizens to support the APC in future elections. He argued that the current government had demonstrated competence and deserved another chance to consolidate its reforms.
On security, he called for greater public vigilance, urging Nigerians to adopt the “see something, say something” approach to help curb crime.
Eid-el-Kabir, celebrated by Muslims worldwide, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God and is marked with prayers, charity, and communal gatherings.
