The Balogun of Ajiran Land in the Agungi area of Lagos State, Alhaji Yekini Olawale Bakare, has called on Nigerians to exercise patience and support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the country marks Eid-el-Kabir.
Speaking after Eid prayers on Monday, Alhaji Bakare said he was grateful to God for sparing his life to witness the festival and expressed hope of celebrating many more in good health.
The traditional ruler acknowledged that many Nigerians were grappling with economic hardship and differing views on government policies. He, however, said he remained optimistic that the economy would stabilize and improve in the near future.
“Nigerians are precious people. Leaders must recognize this and work in their interest,” he said. “The current government under President Tinubu should be given a chance. Things have been difficult, but we are beginning to see signs of improvement both politically and economically.”
Alhaji Bakare urged community leaders and citizens to put aside divisions and focus on national unity, adding that sustained support and patience were necessary for the administration’s reforms to yield results.
He also used the occasion to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity across the country, and wished Muslim faithful a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The Eid-el-Kabir festival commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command and is marked by prayers, feasting, and acts of charity across Nigeria.
