The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intensified its anti-smuggling efforts, seizing goods worth ₦2.53 billion and generating ₦14.75 billion in revenue.
The Command's Acting Customs Area Controller, DC WM ADEWOLE, disclosed this at a press briefing, highlighting significant seizures including 1,603 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 1,144 wraps of Indian hemp, and 692 kegs of PMS.
Adewole warned smugglers and economic saboteurs of the Command's unwavering commitment to enforcing government fiscal policies and protecting the nation's economy. He appealed to the public to support the Service by providing timely information to aid operations.
The Command recorded a 46.22% increase in revenue generation compared to the same period last year, attributing it to its commitment to blocking revenue leakages and facilitating legitimate trade.
