The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a significant operational success with the rescue of a kidnap victim abducted along the Ifira–Isua Akoko Road in Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, 7th January, 2026, at about 4:10 p.m., along the Ifira/Isua Akoko axis, where four armed men reportedly laid an ambush. During the attack, one Jimoh Isah, male, aged 25 years, who was riding a Bajaj motorcycle with his wife, Esther Isah, female, aged 22 years, and their son, was forcefully abducted. The victim’s wife, child, and a physically challenged man were abandoned at the scene by the assailants.
Upon receipt of the distress report at the Isua Divisional Police Headquarters, the Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilized police operatives, in collaboration with non-state actors, for a swift tactical response. The joint security team stormed the area and embarked on an intensive bush-combing operation across surrounding forests while identifying possible escape routes.
The sustained search, intelligence-led pressure, and coordinated security operations compelled the suspects to abandon the victim, who was later rescued unharmed. He has since been reunited with his family. Meanwhile, efforts have been intensified to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the criminal act.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, commended the swift response and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation, stressing that the Command will leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality in any part of Ondo State. He also expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his visionary leadership and far-reaching policing reforms, which continue to strengthen intelligence-sharing, enhance operational coordination, and improve efficiency across police formations nationwide.
The Commissioner further reassured residents of Ondo State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing credible and actionable information to security agencies.
