... Issues directives to Operatives
The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, on 20th December 2025, carried out an on-the-spot assessment of security operations along the Lagos–Ore–Benin Expressway Corridor. The visit was in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness across commands and formations ahead of the festive period.
During the assessment, the Commissioner of Police commended the strong inter-agency collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), noting that the strategic deployment of FRSC personnel has significantly improved traffic management and control across the Corridor. He also applauded the Nigeria Customs Service for its critical role in ensuring the safety of motorists, particularly through the removal of barriers to facilitate the free flow of traffic.
In similar vein, CP Lawal charged members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ondo State Chapter, to remain law-abiding and patient, avoid reckless driving, and be considerate of other road users. He also warned them of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.
Subsequently, CP Adebowale Lawal interacted with officers deployed along the corridor and charged them to discharge their duties with the highest level of professionalism, diligence, and commitment. He issued firm directives to the Area Commander to deploy additional personnel to the corridor, ensure the clearance of all obstructions, and intensify supervision of deployed officers. Similarly, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) within metropolitan areas were directed to clear all obstructions capable of impeding traffic flow, while sustaining regular patrols and visible policing along the expressway.
The Command expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his strategic leadership and unwavering support, particularly through reforms and technological initiatives geared toward strengthening effective, responsive, and intelligence-driven policing nationwide.
In conclusion, the Commissioner of Police assured commuters and residents that robust security measures have been put in place. He emphasized that Area Commanders, Tactical Team Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and their personnel have been fully deployed on both covert and overt operations to guarantee the safety and security of road users throughout the yuletide season.
