Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has awarded the contract for the supply and installation of mechanical appurtenances to the College of Nursing Sciences, as part of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's administration's move to further enhance the healthcare delivery profession in the state.
ANSEC disclosed this at the Council's 14th meeting held at the new government house called the Light House, Awka, on 14th July 2025.
The State's Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, stated that the Council also awarded a fourth dual carriageway, namely, the Ekwulobia to Nnobi Dualisation Road Project.
This completes the linking of the four major Anambra cities by dual carriageways, thereby completing the beltway to permit easy flow of traffic around the state.
Other projects to be executed include the construction of a metallic viewpoint barricade at the new government house now known as the Light House, Awka; the payment for geophysical survey/mapping charges; the construction of outstanding road segments in Okpoko Area; as well as the procurement, installation, and deployment of digital multi-band jammers.
While transforming the health sector, Governor Soludo earned recognition as the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast region and overall, nationally. On it, Anambra received a total of $1,200,000 for the awards, $500,000 for the feat in the Southeast, and $700,000 for overall excellence in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge.
The governor has upgraded primary healthcare centres and constructed five new general hospitals, equipping them with first-rate facilities and skilled personnel for efficient, affordable, and quality healthcare services.
To further enhance the sector, he employed 1,000 health workers, including doctors, nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and medical laboratory technicians, and introduced telemedicine for efficient healthcare solutions.
Governor Soludo's innovative leadership also earned Anambra the fourth position in the evaluation of BudgIT's State of States 2024 Report in overall fiscal performance and sustainability.
