It has come to our attention that a misleading report has been circulating online, wrongly accusing Mr. Ajibola Johnson, CEO of Young Agro Limited, and Mr. Samson Sodeinde, popularly known as Eleda, of being involved in land grabbing activities and violence within Eredo community in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
We wish to categorically debunk this report and set the record straight.
Mr. Ajibola Johnson is a well-known, law-abiding businessman and award-winning farmer with deep roots in the Eredo community. As a legitimate landowner and agripreneur, Mr. Johnson has every legal right to own, buy, or sell farmland for agricultural development. He is not, and has never been, involved in any form of land grabbing or illegal land dealings.
Speaking on the issue, Mr. Johnson clarified:
“The report linking me with violence and land grabbing is not only false but malicious. I am an indigene of Eredo and maintain peaceful relationships with all community stakeholders. The person I was allegedly fighting with, Mr. Samson Sodeinde (Eleda), is like a father figure to me, and any misunderstanding we had has long been resolved amicably. This is a personal matter blown out of proportion.”
Mr. Johnson further clarified that no authentic traditional ruler currently exists in Eredo, and therefore any individual parading themselves as Baale or spokesperson for the community, such as one Mr. Rasak Amujara, is not recognized by the state or traditional authorities.
Chief Oluwatobiloba Bamidele Oladipupo, popularly known as Super, who is the officially recognized LCDA Chairman of Eredo Alase, confirmed this, stating:
“I have served as the LCDA Chairman for over a year and six months, officially certified by the Ogun State Government. To set the record straight, there is no officially installed Baale in Eredo Alase as of today due to ongoing chieftaincy consultations. We are in regular communication with the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and the Alake of Egbaland regarding the matter. Anyone claiming to be Baale without installation by the appropriate authority is misleading the public.”
He added that Eredo Alase remains a peaceful and progressive community and that there has been no outbreak of violence or communal clashes as falsely reported.
Mr. Kayode Shittu, grandson of the late Baale Jimoh (a.k.a. Baba Onifa) and Secretary of the Eredo Community Council, also reaffirmed:
“Since the passing of Baale Jimoh, no successor has been installed. We urge the public not to fall for the misinformation being spread by unauthorized individuals. Eredo is peaceful, and we are committed to its continued development.”
We therefore call on media houses and the general public to disregard the previous reports, which appear to be a calculated attempt to defame reputable individuals and disrupt the harmony in the community.
Legal action is being initiated by Mr. Johnson’s legal counsel to investigate the source of these defamatory claims, and anyone who has genuine proof of wrongdoing is encouraged to approach the proper legal channels with verifiable evidence.
