The Leadership of the South West Zone of The African Church has passed a vote of confidence on Barrister Adebowale Oduguwa as the next Lay President of the Church, raising from a stakeholders meeting of the Zone, held at the Ebenezer African Church Cathedral in Ibadan, Oyo State on the 1st November,2024.
The meeting had in attendance the who is who in the African Church, South West Zone, despite the fact that the meeting was held on a Friday, participants came in their numbers.
At the end, the meeting resolved as follows
1. A vote of confidence was passed on the leadership of Barr. Adebowale Oduguwa as candidate for the office of The Lay President of The African Church.
2. That the constitution of The African Church is sacrosanct and must be complied with in matters relating to the elections into all offices in the church.
3. That Provinces, Dioceses, Archdeaconries in the zone must ensure that all their delegates are present at the Ughelli Conference.
4. That all Vice Lay Presidents elected from Dioceses must be approved at the conference and allowed to commence work immediately.
5. That all members of the acting management committee be dissolved with immediate effect and replaced a caretaker committee who will manage the church till election is conducted into various national offices.
6. That the church should not wave aside ,the serious allegation of Certificate racketeering against the Primate considering the effect that the issue is generating against the image of the church

Secretary, Ibadan Province. Also present were Otunba Mojisola Oyenuga, Vice Lay President, Ibadan Diocese. Elder Mrs. Theresa Olufunmilayo Adekoya also of the Ibadan Diocese (Cathedral Secretary). The Treasurer of the African Church Bro. Olukayode Adegbesan, from the Agege Diocese, Julius Idowu, Vice Lay President elect, Ibadan Diocese, Otunba Ayo Dipeolu, Vice lay President elect (Egba Diocese), Bro Oyerinde Elisa, Osun People's Warden, Olu Oloribiwa , Diocesian Secretary, Ekiti Diocese. Bro Jimmy Ogundimu, the African Church conference Secretary, Elder Taiwo Somefun from Abuja Diocese.
