Police arrest Julius Ebhomien for Electoral offence in Ekpoma

 



The agent of opposition party Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen, at the Esan West  collation centre in Ekpoma was arrested by the Nigeria  police and military Men. Ebhomien Julius raise alarm in protest at the exercise been rigged in favour of The ruling party All progressive Congress (Apc). presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

         The journalists said the issue started when the returning officer Mr Ola Iho Ojo, who is in charge of ward 2  Ujiogba Esan West  local government area,  presented the results to the Esan West Inec  officer Professor Uwa mandy, there was commotion and protest by the Agent of people Democratic Party Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen. 

         MR Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen protest for the cancellation of the Results presented by the  officer alleged that the results collected at the different polling units in Ujiogba ward is different from what the returning officer presented for collation. 

         INEC returning officer professor ola  rejected the demand of  Mr Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen and said the collation will continue. 


INEC then continued with the collation exercise.


We did not come here to rubber stamp the electoral fraud that has been declared by INEC and APC, Mr Ebhomien Julius told journalists during the collation process. 


“INEC is been threaten. APC has convinced INEC,” he said.

              While alleging the entire process Mr Ebhomien Julius, sought for the cancellation of the entire Presidential election results in ward 2 Ujiogba. 

        The agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Julius Ebhomien had expressed dissatisfaction on the process of the collation of results from Esan West  collation officers for the presidential election.

                                          Julius Ebhomien requested that uploaded results must be displayed on the screen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the exercise could continue. He alleged that the uploaded results differ from what collation officers  were presenting.



“INEC failed in the transmission of results. When Julius Ebhomien and other party agents raised the issue, INEC returning officer said."


Many party leaders have bitterly complained that INEC officials at the polling units were unable to upload election results to the IReV.


Julius Ebhomien said the only way for them to see that BVAS hasn’t been bypassed is to see uploaded results. “

The party agent Julius Ebhomien insist the INEC chairman displays uploaded results by state as the results are being presented,” he said. 

When they see Mr Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen, refused for the continuation of the process. The police quickly string into actions and arest him.

  Mr Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen, was arrested by the police to allow the continuation of the process.

The  police officer said Ebhomien Julius was arrested to allow the continuation of Results, and he will be charge to court for instigating violence during the collation of 2023 presidential collation of results in Esan West local government area Ekpoma Edo State.

The police said  according to the 2022 electoral law as amended that anyone find causing violence in the election shall face 14 years in prison. 

 The police say that Mr Ebhomien Julius Osamudiamen, will be under police custody for persecution and breach of Electoral law.

 

The people Democratic Party chairman in Esan west Mr Akhimien said the party agent was

acting under Nigeria constitution for right of freedom of speech and right to protest. he further said The Inec has rigged the Election in Favour of The ruling party All progressive Congress, stating that Democracy is in danger in Nigeria and call on international communities to come to the rescue of Nigeria.
