Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Lagos State has flagged off Publicity for Continuous Voters Registration in Lagos State at its State Headquarters on Birrel Road, Yaba, Lagos, as part of its efforts to conduct a peaceful and credible election as the 2023 general election draws closer.
The Lagos State resident electoral commissioner, Sam Olumekun represented the Admin Secretary, James Popoola said the weekly update released by the commission on Monday 7th February,2022 on Continuous Voters Exercise shows that Lagos State has a low turnout of eligible registrants. He called on stakeholders including the media to join hands together with the commission in mobilizing Lagosians to take maximum advantage of the opportunity provided by the current Cvr.
He went further saying that the ongoing CVR exercise is part of the commission's effort at populating the new Polling units.
He said the state office will flagoff the pasting of the identification stickers today using the centres in Lagos Mainland and Somolu Local Government areas while other officers have been directed to ensure they carryout the exercise in the remaining local government.
The management later went to some of the new polling units to paste identification stickers in the local government area.
