It was a time of singing, dancing and exaltation, as the MD/CEO of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni led the management team, members of staff, families and friends of LAWMA, to a time of praise and prayers, as the agency held its annual end of the year thanksgiving Carol service.
The event tagged: ‘End of the Year 2021 Thanksgiving Carol Service and Christmas Grotto’, took place on the 14th of December, 2021, at the Ijora Olopa headquaters of the agency.
In his welcome address, Mr. Odumboni said it was needful to give thanks considering how demanding and tasking the year 2021 has been for everyone not only in LAWMA but all across the world as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s good to see us all again and this has been made possible by God. I am grateful because God has preserved us all to be here today. We must appreciate God. The year 2021 has been a challenging one, but 2022 will be better. The spirit of been here is to celebrate our togetherness and we must continue to be of one mind and we must endeavour to continue to remain together,” Mr. Odumboni said.
He said this year marked his third year as a member of the LAWMA Team, noting that his journey has been by God’s Grace.
Appreciating the members of LAWMA, Mr. Odumboni thanked everyone for their support and contributions towards the togetherness that LAWMA currently enjoy. Stating that he is grateful for the enablement to take LAWMA from where it was to where it is now .
“I am very delighted to be here today and today’s marks my third year in LAWMA. I want to appreciate the organisers. You have done very well and even better than last year. I want to appreciate everyone in LAWMA, from the gateman and to the Executive Director, Finance. Thank you for making 2021 a successful year for us all. Next year will be a better year for us all.”
Speaking further, Mr. Odumboni said the successes recorded and celebrated in LAWMA was made possible by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He thanked the Governor and the Commissioner for environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, for their immense support.
“My deepest appreciation to the our Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, may God continue to uphold you and grant you wisdom and knowledge to continue to lead this state. And to our ever listening and supportive Commissioner of Environment, Mr. Tunji bello, may God continue to be with you and strengthen you, thank you sir.”
Taking the first Bible Reading, the LAWMA boss asked that a minute silence be observed for the late Senior Special Adviser (SSA), LAWMA, to the Lagos state Governor, Mr. Bashorun Ayo Williams, who passed away recently.
At the event, prayers were made for Lagos State and Nigeria.
