The Methodist Church, Nigeria, under the leadership of his Eminence Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, has urged the Church to empower the youths as they are the future of the church and nations at large.
The Prelate of the Methodist Church also consecrated, invest and inducted Archbishops and Bishops.
The occasion brought about the conference Lay President,Archdiocesan lay President and Diocesan lay President in the presence of all the congregation under the guidance of the Holy spirit at their headquarters in Tinubu Lagos Nigeria.
The service had in attendance, business tycoons, House of clergy,ministers Wives,Knight of John Wesley's,and members of Methodist home and abroad.
His Eminence Dr Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche encouraged members and all clergy present to always serve God when they have opportunity and to always give generously to God.
He went further that his expectation for the newly consecrated Bishops is to grow the Church spiritually by giving them the word of God, and they should grow the Church numerically, financially, infrastructuring. He said the Church should now empower the youth,he said he will appoint a minister who is an expert in skill acquisition to train 3,000 youths in entrepreneurial skills from December 2021 till November 2022,and to spend some money for the beneficiaries of the program to a job providers for other people and the new Bishops will also key into it.
He also used the opportunity to advise Nigerian government to create an enabling environment for the people to be happy, he said all the tiers of government should all generate employment.
The newly installed Bishops Rt.Rev.Timothy Oladokun Olatunji also commented that he will improve more on evangelism side of the Church to move the Church forward and by his grace there will be development and progress in the Church.
The former secretary of Conference and the Archbishop of Umahia The Most Rev. Raphael Opoko advised the new bishops to be contented,rely on God and depend on God and every other things shall be added on to them,he said there might be difficulty but they will all enjoy it.
The Prelate then blessed the elements of consecration and consecrated and invest the newly bishops and Archbishop and induct,invest the conference lay president, Archdiocesan lay presidents and diocesan lay presidents,and also signed certificates in the presence of the lawyer of the church and the congregation.
