The Special Adviser, Parastatals Monitoring Office, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, has charged employees in all government parastatals and government-owned companies to embrace wellness culture.

Ayantayo gave the charge in his address at a two-day workshop organised by the State government to educate the employees of all parastatals on the importance of wellness in the workplace.

He said that a healthy workforce is an asset in every workplace, particularly in the Lagos Public Service where the tempo of effective service delivery is very high, as the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu led-administration is leaving no stone unturned in the successful implementation of the T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda of the State.

The Special Adviser posited that as employees of Parastatals with regular interface with the public particularly in the area of service delivery, it is important that employees are physically and mentally fit to perform their daily assignments with a positive state of mind.

He also affirmed that there is an urgent need to embrace wellness programmes in the work environment so as to build a friendly and trouble-free work atmosphere, adding that if the feat could be achieved, definitely, new heights of success and growth can be assured in all Parastatals.

“I wish to appeal to all Heads of Parastatals to design an engaging wellness plan aimed at improving employees’ health in terms of physical fitness and mental wellbeing. You should also, create knowledge and resources for them that is essential to living a healthy and productive lifestyle while reinforcing behaviour that will enhance a healthy life as well”, Ayantayo advised.
