The Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to the promotion of peace and unity among all residents of the State, saying that no progress can be achieved in a chaotic atmosphere.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Oladusi Komolafe, made the disclosure over the weekend at the Second 2021 'Iwure' (prayer) ceremony organised by the Lagos Chapter of the Association of African Traditional Religions of Nigeria (AATREN), held at the Iroko-Awe Ground, Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa.
Komolafe urged leaders and members of AATREN to always prioritise the peace and unity of the State, as well as its people, in all their activities, stressing that “You must always pray and work for the peace and unity of Lagos State because we have no other home apart from Lagos”.
While leading the special intercessory prayer session for peaceful co-existence and progress of the State, alongside other foremost Ifa priests, High Chief Kehinde Anipupo, sought divine protection and the prosperity of Lagos and its residents.
In his supplication, President of AATREN, Opemoluwa of Ikate-Elegushi, High Chief Ifasegun Elegushi, embarked on a thorough investigation of the Ifa Corpus, seeking clarification from the divinity on the peace and progress of the State.
Also, the Vice-President of AATREN and the Yeye-Osun of Lagos Mainland, Yeye Foluso Adeogun-Oga, offered special prayers for sustained unity among all ethnic groups in Lagos and Nigeria, emphasising the need to avert all anti-peace scenarios.
Leaders of AATREN also used the occasion to renew the call for the declaration of August 20 as "Isese Day", saying that African Traditional Religion must be accorded its prime place in the scheme of things.
