LASUBEB GETS SUPPORT TO CURB SPREAD OF COVID-19 IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS

In order to stem the spread of COVID-19 pandemic amongst learners and stakeholders in Schools, Senator Tokunbo Abiru has donated health safety materials to Public Primary Schools in Lagos State through the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB).

Receiving the donated items at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Maryland in Ikeja, the Executive Chairman LASUBEB, Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, commended the Senator for contributing to the enhancement of Basic Education in the State, noting that the safety materials will not only help in curbing the transmission of the virus in schools but also go a long way to reduce the spread of COVID within the State.

He opined that the best way to reduce the spread of the virus is adherence to all stipulated safety guidelines and called for more support as well as collaboration in the Basic Education sector, urging the administrative, legislative and judiciary arms of the government to contribute to basic education for resourceful and impactful learning outcomes in Public Primary Schools.

Alawiye-King implored the Senator to use every opportunity he has to push for the amendment of laws relevant to the development of Basic Education both at the Federal and State levels.

While handing over the safety materials, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Abuja, stated that leaders cannot afford to fail young children who are prone to infections, adding that it is important for political leaders to protect the vulnerable segment of the society against COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is suicidal to let down our guards at this point in time. At the Tokunbo Abiru Constituency Team (TACT), we are doing our best to complement the efforts of the State government in ensuring that all COVID-19 protocols are strictly complied with”, he said.

Applauding Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for initiating the use of technology to upscale the teachers to improve the learning outcomes in schools, Abiru added that his team will be intervening by providing eye-glasses to teachers of the district to improve their vision after a formal eye examination.

The Senator appreciated the Board for impacting and contributing resourcefully to the advancement of basic education in Lagos State.
