The Lagos Mainland Local Government under the able Executive Chairman Mayor Jubril Emilagba,on Friday flagged off the construction of an Ultra-Modern Market in Iddo Community, with residents expressing excitement over the new project.
The ground-breaking ceremony, held at the project site, marks the official commencement of a facility designed to improve trade, create jobs, and provide residents with convenient access to goods and services.
The project is being driven by the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, in partnership with community leaders. It is expected to be completed within 2 to 3 months.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Emilagba thanked stakeholders for their support and commitment to the vision.
“This Ultra-Modern Market is designed to provide a safe, clean, and organized trading space for our traders. It will also boost the local economy and increase the Internally Generated Revenue of both Lagos Mainland Local Government and Iddo Community,” he said.
The Chairman performed the symbolic ground-breaking, after which prayers were offered for the safety of workers and the successful completion of the project.
According to the project brief, the new market will feature modern lock-up shops, open stalls, drainage, solar-powered lighting, security posts, and sanitation facilities.
Community leaders described the project as timely and people-oriented.
“We are excited. This market will transform trade in Iddo and take our people off the streets,” a community leader said.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adewale Moshood Momoh; Council Manager, Mr. Ojikutu Muniru Olufemi; Leader of the House, Hon. Azeez Olooto; Councillors, Supervisors, Special Advisers, CDC/CDA leaders, and market representatives including the Acting Iya Oloja.Also present was the project contractor, Alhaji Sodiq.
The Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering projects that directly impact residents within record time.
The ceremony ended peacefully with prayers and goodwill messages from stakeholders.
