It was a day of celebration, gratitude, and inspiration as de-Saviour Private Schools held its 2025/2026 Valedictory Ceremony in Lagos on the theme, “Uncommon Valued Stars.”
The event, which drew parents, educators, and dignitaries, saw graduating pupils honoured with cash gifts and souvenirs, while long-serving teachers and supportive parents were also recognized for their contributions to the school.
According to the Proprietor of de-Saviour Schools, Abiodun Ademefun, the ceremony was designed to celebrate excellence in academics, character, and service.
“Today is a day of gratitude. I want to say a very big thank you to all our esteemed, reliable, worthy, faithful parents for your trust, support, and partnership all these years,” Ademefun said. “You have always exhibited your love, understanding, and response to these programs. May the Almighty God continue to bless you all.”
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of awards. Graduating students received cash gifts and other souvenirs. Teachers who have served the school for over 10 years were presented with befitting gifts and a cash reward of ₦50,000 each.
In recognition of excellence in indigenous language, the best Yoruba students were also awarded ₦10,000 cash gift each.
Parents were not left out. A refrigerator was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Ohien in appreciation of having three children pass through the school. The school announced that at least two parents received refrigerators, with a promise that the last child in such families will also receive one upon graduation.
The ceremony had in attendance several dignitaries including the Father of the Day, Pastor Olusegun Alonge. Others were Alhaji Bayo Lawal of Bayonle Schools; Pastor Segun Hamzat of Freedom Gate School; Hon. Kolawole Fasusi, Secretary to Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government; the CEO of Barachel Group of Schools; and Mr. Kolawole Oni of George Michael Schools, to mention few.
In his address, Ademefun recalled how he prophesied four years ago that Hon. Fasusi would emerge as Secretary to the Local Government among over 30 contenders.
“Four years ago, when they were jostling for who takes over the assumption of the office of the Secretary to the Local Government, I remember I said it on this altar that by the special grace of God, his name will be mentioned and approved. And it came to pass. Today, again, I’m praying here on 16 July 2026, in a couple of months’ time, he’s going to be the Chairman of the Local Government. Either the devil likes it or not, I’m coming back again to celebrate this great man,” he declared to applause.
Reflecting on the graduating class, Ademefun noted that many of the pupils joined the school nine years ago as little children with big dreams.
“Precisely 9 years ago, those you see there graduating and going to secondary school walked into de-Saviour Primary School with small steps and big ambition. Today, they are walking steady, wiser, and ready for the next stage of life. We have watched them learn to read, solve problems, work in teams, and most especially to show character,” he said.
He charged the pupils to hold firm to the values of discipline, integrity, hard work, and respect taught in the school.
“You are Uncommon Valued Stars that have exhibited excellence. Never should you disappoint us. The school will continue to ask your parents, ‘How far have you gone in your studies?’ Almighty God will continue to lead you, guide you, and you will remain forever an Uncommon Valued Star,” he prayed.
Kindergarten graduates were also commended and encouraged to be well-equipped for primary school, while Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils were urged to maintain the standard of excellence in academics, sports, arts, and morals.
Looking ahead, Ademefun announced new programmes lined up for the next academic session to broaden pupils’ exposure and skills.
The first is a train ride experience designed to expose pupils to transportation systems in Lagos, Nigeria, and the world, while enhancing their knowledge beyond the classroom.
The second is a major push into ICT and digital skills development. Citing Lagos State Government’s drive toward technology, Ademefun said de-Saviour Schools will fully embrace digitalization.
“As the Lagos State Government gears up to move with the world in ICT, de-Saviour Primary School is also ready to equip our young stars with digital skills, since the future belongs to those who can code, create, and connect,” he said. He added that pupils had earlier demonstrated coding skills at the event, a performance he described as deeply impressive.
The third initiative is an intentional focus on public speaking to help pupils communicate confidently and develop self-presentation skills.
Ademefun thanked parents again for their steadfast support despite economic challenges.
"Despite current realities, our parents have stood by us. We promise not to disappoint. The 2026/2027 session is fast approaching, so please keep up the good work," he said.
He urged graduating pupils to go forth and excel. “Go with the world. Go and be the best, and excel in all your endeavors ahead of you. I pray for all the parents. The Almighty God will grant you the financial capacity to raise these children beyond limits.”
Cultural Displays and Entertainment
The ceremony was spiced with various performances including diction and French presentations, ballet dance, and colorful cultural displays representing Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba traditions. There was also a special dance session involving pupils, graduating students, and their parents.
The event ended with prayers, goodwill messages, and renewed commitment by the school management to continue raising children who are academically sound and morally upright.
de-Saviour Private Schools said it remains committed to its vision of nurturing “Uncommon Valued Stars” who will make positive impact in society and represent the school with excellence wherever they go.
