In line with its mandate to advance healthcare delivery through capacity building and institutional development, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) is set to graduate the first cohort of its Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Administration and Management (PGDHAM).
This milestone reflects the hospital’s strategic commitment to strengthening professional hospital management and improving the overall efficiency of healthcare systems.
The LASUTH PGDHAM programme, domiciled within the LASUTH Institute of Allied Sciences and Management, one of the seven schools established by the institution, was designed to address the growing need for skilled healthcare administrators. As a two-semester, multidisciplinary programme, it provides healthcare professionals with the requisite managerial, administrative, and leadership competencies necessary for effective hospital administration and service delivery.
The establishment of the programme highlights LASUTH’s recognition that quality healthcare outcomes are closely linked not only to clinical expertise but also to sound management systems.
Through a blend of theoretical instructions and practical applications, the programme is positioned to produce professionals capable of driving efficiency, accountability, and innovation within the healthcare sector.
Operating under efficient management, led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, the LASUTH Institute of Allied Sciences and Management continues to expand its academic and professional offerings through its eight functional schools, including the School of Anaesthetic Technology, School of Echocardiography, School of Orthopaedic Cast Technology, Caregivers Academy, Centre for Advanced Neonatal Studies, School of Paramedics Technology, and the Institute of Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Administration and Management. More recently is the National Postgraduate Medical College Diploma in Ultrasonography.
With the graduation of its pioneer students, LASUTH further consolidates its role as a leading institution in healthcare training and service delivery in Lagos and across Nigeria, contributing to the development of a more responsive, efficient, and sustainable healthcare system.
