In commemoration of World Clean-Up Day 2025, the Yaba Local Branch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) today, Saturday, September 20, 2025, held a massive community clean-up exercise in Abule-Ijesha, Yaba LCDA.
The exercise, tagged “Yaba Tuntun Clean-Up Day”, brought together youths, community leaders, and residents in a collective effort to promote environmental sustainability and healthy living. The activities kicked off as early as 6:30 a.m. at Kayode Market, Abule-Ijesha, with participants engaging in sweeping, refuse collection, recycling sensitization, and sanitation awareness.
The Executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. DR. Bayo Adefuye, joined the youths in the exercise, lending his full support and encouragement. He commended the NYCN Yaba branch for taking the lead in championing the cause of environmental cleanliness and urged the youths to continue to be agents of positive change in the community.
DR. Adefuye, in line with his Yaba Tuntun Agenda, emphasized that a clean environment is essential to a healthy society, adding that his administration will continue to support initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and youth development.
The event also fostered community bonding, as market women, residents, and volunteers joined hands with the youths to ensure that Abule-Ijesha reflected the spirit of World Clean-Up Day.
The Yaba Tuntun Clean-Up Day ended on a high note with renewed commitments from all stakeholders to sustain the effort towards a greener and cleaner Yaba.
