Mayor Jubril Emilagba, Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, has distributed free G.C.E. forms to indigent students at the Council Secretariat, Apapa Road, Lagos today 21st August 2025. The initiative is part of a yearly tradition aimed at promoting educational development and empowering youth.
Mayor Emilagba emphasized the importance of education, stating that it is a core pillar of human advancement and a tool that unlocks creativity, builds resilience, and equips individuals with knowledge and skills to transform society. He noted that investing in education is not only an investment in the lives of children but also in the collective prosperity of the nation.
The Chairman explained that the program is a deliberate effort to ensure that opportunities for higher learning are extended to every deserving child within the local government. In addition to academic support, his administration has introduced summer holiday tutorial lessons to prepare students for forthcoming examinations. The program also includes entrepreneurial skill learning, such as ICT basics, craftwork, and small-scale business skills, to empower young people with practical knowledge.
By combining academic preparation with entrepreneurial training, Mayor Emilagba aims to build well-rounded individuals who can excel in their studies while developing self-reliance and creativity. The Chairman extended his appreciation to all stakeholders who have made the program a success, including parents, teachers, community leaders, and government officials.
He then encouraged the students who are the beneficiaries of the exercise, to seize the opportunity with seriousness and dedication, this serve as a stepping stone to greater achievements.
