Free Medical Outreach: Lagos Mainland Local Government Partners with COWLSO to Serve Residents




The Lagos Mainland Local Government, under the chairmanship of Mayor Hon. Jubril Emilagba, in collaboration with the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), organized a free medical outreach program for residents of Lagos Mainland. This initiative aimed to make healthcare more accessible to the community.




A total of 500 people benefitted from the laudable program put together by the wife of the Governor of Lagos State,Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu in celebrating the 25th year anniversary of the committee of wives of Lagos State (COWLSO) national women's conference with the theme "Health for all;Bridging the gap;Building a healthy Future with free medical services which include;General Medical consultation and treatment, Dental Care,Eye Screening, Tuberculosis screening, Cervical and Breast Cancer and Chest X-RAYs.




In his welcome address, Mayor Emilagba expressed his appreciation to the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for her tireless commitment to the welfare of the people, particularly women and children. He noted that COWLSO's initiatives have transformed countless lives and strengthened communities across the state.




The theme of this year's conference, "Health for All: Bridging Gaps, Building a Healthy Future," emphasizes the importance of quality healthcare as a fundamental right for all, regardless of social or economic standing. Through this outreach, the Lagos Mainland Local Government aims to close healthcare gaps that often lead to preventable illnesses and needless suffering.




The First Lady of Lagos State, represented by Mrs. Aderonke Solomon, a member of COWLSO, stated that the Committee has organized similar outreach programs in other senatorial districts and local council development areas. She encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the free medical services, including blood pressure checks, sugar level checks, cervical screening, dental checks, chest X-rays, and eye screening.




The Chairman of the Community Development Council, Alhaji Babatunde Salako, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and the Chairman of Lagos Mainland for bringing the outreach to the community. He requested more outreach programs for the community in the future.
