Oil Industry: Niger Delta group praises Tinubu on reforms, calls for broader probe

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been praised for having the courage to open the can of worms in the petroleum Industry.

The President had launched a massive investigation into the series of financial map practices associated with the Nigerian National Petroleum Industry, (NNPC)

This weekend, no fewer than N80b is said to have been mismanaged by interests saddled with the responsibility of revamping the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries.

The Association of Niger-Delta Communities, (ANDC) in a statement at the weekend praised Tinubu for his courage and determination to sanitize the oil industry.
The group in a statement signed by President  Johnson Adaka  and General Secretary Akpo Oghene said the Niger Delta people are excited by the on-going probe.

'We are impressed by what the President has done. But he needs to do more. He needs to get to the roots of the matter,' the group said.

The group said the NNPC funds that have been stolen may also linked to the operations of armed groups in the Niger Delta especially TANITA owned by Mr Government Tompolo.

The group alleged that the former NNPC Managing Director, Mele Kyari and Tompolo suspected to be responsible for running the NNPC as a corrupt cartel.

The group called on the Federal Government to mop up arms in the Niger Delta to avoid a major crisis.

It accused Tompolo and TANITA of deliberately sabotaging the Nigerian economy while pretending to be carrying out Pipeline protection.

It accused armed militants of planting hundreds of corrupt people in the NNPC, a feat they achieved through the bribing of NNPC officials

The group urged the President to investigate the mass importation of arms into the Niger Delta linked to militants like Tompolo in the region.

'The Niger Delta is under siege. Communities can no longer sleep with their eyes open. We confront arms groups every day all of which are linked to militants'

It accused Tompolo of working underground against the second term of President Tinubu saying that he has been sponsoring the opposition across the country while pretending to be a friend of the Presidency.

The group accused Tompolo' of creating arms depot's and arsenals across the Niger Delta communities.

'Tompolo and his company TANTITA are not really into pipeline protection but into arms importation to the Niger Delta. That is what they are doing. They have a lot of armed men that intimidate, harass and even rape young girls and women" the Association said

It noted that several people have been arrested and killed by Tompolo's armed guards adding that many are detained in his various private prisons spread across the creeks.

The group said each time TANITA arrests people, they would claim that they had the support of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. The group said TANITA is blackmailing the NSA since many people are aware that the NSA is a decent man that would not descend so low.

The group said the best way to stop the raging violence in the Niger Delta is to put an end to the  violent and tyrany rule of Tompolo' and his blood thirsty TANITA company
