Comrade Rotimi Olumo, coordinator of the Oyo State chapter of OPC New Era, has urged members in Oyo State to abstain from participating in the proposed protest scheduled for August 1st.
Olumo made this appeal during a conversation with the media in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
He stated that protest is not the solution to the country's problems.
We have the to protect but we should try and remember what happened during End sax protest that been hijacked by bad heads
"We should allow the government to concentrate on alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians and give them the opportunity to implement their policies effectively."
"The United Nations has warned that some bad actors might hijack protests, similar to how Ugandan President Museveni cautioned his citizens against demonstrations. The recent events in Kenya have not been favorable for its citizens. The Nigerian government should ensure the security and protection of its citizens in all areas, including roads, power supply, schools, and health centers.
Olumo now used the medium to call upon all New Era members, both within Nigeria and abroad, to refrain from participating in the protest and to seek ways to advance our beloved country, he said.
