STANBIC IBTC HOLDINGS EQUIPS MEDIA STAFF AT THE 4TH EDITION OF MEDIA TRAINING SESSION

Leading Financial Institution, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, played host to some media staff in various media houses to impact more knowledge to build a stronger media space in the society at the Stanbic IBTC towers Walter Carrington Cresent Victoria Island, Lagos today 30th May 2024.

The 4th Edition of Training program had 4 sessions with notables facilitators in the Media Space including Dr. Jekwu Ozoemene,Mr. Toni Kan, Barrister Deji Olatoye and Peter Okwoche.

The First Speaker, Dr. Jekwu Ozoemene  who spoke on the essential of reporting banking and finance explains how media can recognise the basic balance sheet accounts and income statement components and understood how they relate to each,he also explains the factors that affect a bank's camels rating and related key financial concepts and data to planning and managing a bank.

The Second Facilitator, Mr. Toni Kan who spoke on Keeping Facts Sacred in the age of Social Media,Misinformation, disinformation and Malinformation, explained some of the Charteristics of news which include accurate,balanced,objectivity and many others. He also explains what kind of news should be reported in an era of mistrust as authentic,factual,fact checked,balanced and no bias.

The Third Facilitator who is a Legal Juggernaut,  Deji Olatoye spoke on Cybercrimes Act and the Media Practitioners Executive Understanding the Legal Minefield,he explained Cybercrimes Act which was passed into law in 2015 which the objectives are to provide an effective and unified legal,regulatory and framework to prohibit,prevent,detect,prosecute and punish cybercrimes in Nigeria.

The last speaker, Peter Okwoche represented by Toni Kan spoke on Fake News,a case for ethics professionalism highlighted ways by which fake news can be spotted.

The Head of Brand & Marketing Stanbic IBTC Mrs. Bridget Oyefeso Odusami in her closing remarks appreciated all the media staff present and said in Stanbic IBTC they equip for more knowledge. She then advised all the participants to take what they have learnt back to their various place of work and impact the knowledge to their other colleagues.
