The Management of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) played host to the International President of Lions Club, Dr. Patty Hill, during a courtesy visit with members of Lions Club Nigeria, on Monday, 13th of November, 2023. The aim of the familiarization visit was to chart more collaborative paths with the hospital.
The Chief Medical, Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, in his welcome address said, Lions Club had been a veritable benefactor to LASUTH as the club has been present in the premises offering help and assistance for some years now. The CMD listed several projects the Club had birthed in the hospital, which include the Oncology building, the Diabetes Clinic which was recently renovated and the Eye Institute that was also recently equipped with state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment worth millions of naira.
The International President of Lions Club, Dr. Patty Hill, in her address said, nothing makes her happier than collaborating with a health institution that takes its duties with utmost revere. She acknowledged and appreciated the quantum effort that health practitioners put into their work. She further noted that the Lions Club's mission is deeply rooted in humanitarian activities which makes donations to LASUTH not just an activity but one that fulfills purpose.
Immediate Past District Governor 404B2, Aare Lekan Owolabi in his address said, the President’s visit is historical as she is the first international president to visit Nigeria while in office. He said the partnership between Lions Club International and LASUTH started way back in 2007 when the Oncology building was donated to the hospital under the leadership of PAL Dame Adetope Tychus.
He concluded by appreciating the Management of the hospital for according apex recognition to Lions Club International by inscribing the Club's name on the hospital's Honor Roll.
The CMD, the Lions Club International President and LASUTH management later went on a facility tour and a brief tree planting ceremony to mark the visitation.
