It was excitement all the way on Thursday as the second prize-presentation event in the on-going Festival of Joypromo took place in Ibadan with a 34-year-old Event Planner, Mrs Adeife Adeyemi-Abiodun, winning the first car in the promotion.
At the event which was held at Gloworld at Ring Road, other lucky winners also went home with different prizes including power generating sets, sewing machines and rechargeable fans among others.
A very elated Abiodun-Adeyemi said, "I have always used Glo, it is my business hotline, so I usually recharged heavily on the number even before the promo. When I learnt that Glo was rewarding its subscribers, I intensified my recharges. I am happy that my loyalty to Globacom over the years has paid off".
Other winners included a student of Agriculture at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyindamola Alabi, who won a generator. Alabi said she did not believe the news until she received her prize, Also a rechargeable fan winner, 24-year-old Dolapo Aremu, thanked Globacom for the rare privilege of winning the prize while a very grateful 38-year-old business centre operator, Mr. Temitope Salako, who won a sewing machine said he will give it to his younger sister to support her fashion designing business.
Personalities at the event included the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Lawal; Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Chief Bayo Lawal; the Chairman, Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, and other members of the state executive council.
The Deputy Governor commended Globacom for its constant empowerment schemes, especially its loyalty reward promos through which many Nigerians have won life-changing prizes. He added that the company's social responsibility programmes are also bettering the lot of Nigerians, in addition to its customer-friendly product and services.
Mr. Ikechukwu Onuekwusi, Globacom's Regional Sales Manager in Oyo State, said that subscribers who wish to participate in the promo should dial the dedicated short code *611# and keep recharging (voice and data during the promo period) in order to be eligible to win the prizes on offer. He added that "The more the recharge, the higher the chances of winning".
He added, "Subscribers who desire to become landlords and landladies of 3-bedroom houses courtesy of GloFestival of Joy must make data subscription(s) of at least N20,000 during the promo period, while those who are interested in winning cars should make a monthly recharge of N10,000; N5,000 monthly recharge for power generators, N2,500 monthly recharge for sewing machines and N500 weekly to win rechargeable fans".
