The Physiotherapy Department of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) celebrated the Year 2022 World Physiotherapy Day with the theme 'Osteoarthritis, The Role of Physiotherapists'. This to sensitize residents of Lagos Metropolis on how to manage osteoarthritis.

During the courtesy call to the Management of the hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo congratulated the members of staff, saying the theme of the day is apt as it addresses a major health issue common in the elderly. He went further to say that Physiotherapy is a very old yet relevant profession, and therefore can be described as a very important pillar in the hospital.

The CMD also recognized the role physiotherapists play in offering respite to patients who otherwise would have been rendered immobile by their various conditions. He therefore, challenged the department to fashion out a realistic exercise routine that members of staff can take up in order to improve their health status.

Professor Adebowale Adekoya, the Director of Clinical Services and Training, also congratulated the department and charged them to be more inclusive and more participatory in clinical work.

The Director of Physiotherapy, Mr. Fadeyi Olanrewaju, while commenting on the day said there will be an Instagram Live event as well as Osteoarthritis screening exercises at various waiting areas of the hospital.
