Lagos Ikoyi Lions Club in Collaboration with Lagos Island East LCDA carried out its monthly Community Service on Diabetes Awareness in commemoration of World Diabetes Day.
The activity was observed at the Newly commissioned Public Health Center at Anikantamo on Adeniji Adele Road in the heart of Lagos Island.
According to the Chairperson Diabetes Awareness Committee, Lion PP Stella Busari,
said over Two Hundred people were screened after lectures on possible causes and management of Diabetes was delivered to the people in their local dialect YORUBA and in addition over two hundred (200) awareness brochures on Diabetes were distributed to the people.
Twenty five (25)Lions and Leo volunteers attended the event. In attendance are Zone 1A Chairperson Lion TPL Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf, Lion PCC AVM (Rtd) Anthony Okpere, the 1st VP Lion Raji Taiwo Fatai, 2nd VP Lion Grace Osunwa, the Club Secretary Lion Abiodun Shobande Lion PP Omotunde Johnson, Lion PP Tessy Ajakaiye and Lion Dr Ngozi Nwosu.
The Chairman Lagos Island East LCDA Hon.Muibi Alade Folawiyo advised the beneficiaries of the Screening exercise to always take health as their priority.
During the event, the President of Lagos ikoyi Lions Club,Lion Abdulkarim Yusuf discussed with the LCDA Executive Chairman on areas of more Collaborations within the five focus areas of Lions Club International which are Vision, Diabetes, Environment, Pediatric Cancer and Feeding the Hungry.
