LASG In Partnership With Christian Pilgrims Welfare Held Thanksgiving Service To Appreciate God

The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board organized the 2020 General/2021 Easter pilgrimage Thanksgiving Service to appreciate God for the journey from Jordan back to Nigeria Safely in good health.

The Thanksgiving Service held at the Chapel of Christ the Light Alausa Ikeja had in attendance the wife of the Governor of Lagos State,Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner of Home Affairs Prince Anofi Elegushi,Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Oluseyi Sewedo Whenu,the Special adviser on Christian matters,Very. Revd Bukola Adeleke, the Lagos State CAN Chairman,Bishop Steven Adegbite and many others.

In his sermon the preacher Rt.Revd.Ologun Adebayo the African Church Bishop of Epe while speaking on the the theme "All Things Work Together For Good" said no matter what the Pilgrims are going through they should know that everything work together for good.

He also appreciated the Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu that he is always ready at all times to come to the aid of Lagosians in all sectors and parastatals.

The commissioner of Home Affairs Prince Anofi Elegushi while speaking with Journalist said because of the pandemic Lagos State was not able to enter the pilgrimage cities but this year,Lagos State was able to partner with Jordan which the Pilgrims accepted to go.

He said the Pilgrims went safely and came back safely with no casualty,he encouraged the Pilgrims to continue to be law abiding citizens in the state. 

The Permanent Secretary Mr Oluseyi Sewedo Whenu also commented that despite all odds the pilgrims were able to make it and return safely so it tells us that all things work for good for those that love God.

He said the going for pilgrimage is meant for spiritual upliftment, spiritual cleansing and edification. 


The Special Adviser to Governor on Christian Matters Very.Revd Bukola Adeleke said Mr Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was so happy that they went to the Kingdom of Jordan in peace and came back in peace and the Lord has been faithful. He also thank Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support to Christian bodies in the state and in Nigeria.

Also encouraged the pilgrims to continue to praying for the Governor and Nigerian leaders and they should continue to be a good ambassador for Nigeria.

The Chairman CAN Lagos State Bishop Steven Adegbite said the visit to Jordan is a wonderful experience for its the first time visiting Jordan for pilgrimage and a good place to visit to have another experience about Christianity.

He said Lagosians should continue to live in peace and dialogue and believe in God.

One of the pilgrim Very Revd Dapo Daramola shared his experience that its was beautiful and saw historical sites in Jordan,saw the foot print of the pope and the holy land Jordan was not a wasted time.


Thanksgiving by all the pilgrims groups formed the highpoint of the event.
