The Executive Chairman Of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede, has gave free General Certificate Examonation (GCE) forms, to students in the council.
Oloyede while presenting the forms to the beneficiaries at the council secretariat in the three in one programme promised to continue to support indigent students in the local government so that they will compete favourably with their colleagues anywhere in the country.
The council boss stressed that inadequate funding will not preclude them from achieving their goals in life.
He said, “education being the bedrock of any nation, this administration will do its best by providing for educational support for indigent students so that they can be at par with their mates in other parts of Lagos State. Today’s distribution of GCE form is a tip of the iceberg, we will ensure that the educational system is standardized in our local government by providing necessary amenities/ infrastructures that will aid the learning ability of our children”.
He however appealed to the students who benefitted from the programme to study rigorously so they can pass the examination with flying colours and not to make this gesture an effort in futility.
As part of the three -in one programme, widows who were carefully selected were also given financial support for their businesses, while the needies, especially the aged were equally given food stuff.
The council boss said, “these programmes are targeted at improving and elevating the economic status and well-being of the good people of Oshodi.
During the electioneering campaign, we promised to improve and make the standard of living of our people better, ensure that the dividends of democracy get to the doorsteps of the people and to solve economic challenges confronting our local government.”
He promised that his team with party chieftains and captains of industries would collaborate with his administration so that they can provide solutions to the myriads of problems confronting the people, stressing that all the promises he made will be kept.
Beneficiaries of the empowerment programme and the students expressed appreciation to the council boss for his kindness, praying for him and success of his administration.
