The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) will on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, hold its maiden Lagos State Food Safety Conference and Exhibition with the theme: “Food Safety: What Consumers Need To Know”.
According to a statement signed by the General Manager, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, the event will take place at NECA House Main Auditorium, Plot 2A, Hakeem Balogun Street, Central Business District Road, Alausa Ikeja, and address several issues on food-safety to educate consumers about their rights.
Solebo explained that the programme will provide insights into the management of complex food chains in the rapidly increasing population and in accordance with the demands of the food-safety initiatives.
While noting that the Food Safety Conference and Exhibition will serve as a platform for the Lagos State Government to come up with a policy statement and legislation on food safety, the General Manager disclosed that seasoned and expert facilitators have been scheduled to speak on topics such as Reporting Possible Food Tampering and Product Recall; Food Safety and Policy-Making as well as Keeping the Food Supply Chain Secure, amongst others.
Solebo further revealed that the Conference will among other activities, feature debate competition among students of selected schools in Lagos State while top Government officials, Market Men and Women, food technologists, consumer movements, manufacturers and relevant regulatory agencies are expected to grace the event.
