Inother to create awareness and supporting students in thinking outside the box The Lagos State Chess association in conjunction with Gidi Sports and Tourism organized a 3day chess clinic for Lagos State public schools at the sports bar teslim balogun stadium.
A three-Day Chess Clinic targeted at educating students from the six Educational Districts of Lagos State saw the students playing the game after learning the rule of the game for two days.
The programme which was organised by Lagos State Chess Association in conjunction with Gidi Sports and Tourism, and it is focused on creating awareness, enthusiasm, and interest in Chess among school-age children.
The chairman Lagos State Sports Commission Olusola Aiyepeku while speaking to journalists said they want association to push to create events,clinics and reintroduce sports to the children and expanding sports.
He went further to say that the Clinic is the First of its kind,to allow children learn the fundamentals and the next level competition in making them thinking strategically and be proactive in their taught.
Former Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu who is in support of the clinic explained encouraged the students to use the clinic as an avenue to think outside the box,and always be very strategic in thinking as it is the rules of chess game.
Some of the children present at the event could not hide their feelings as they will be looking forward to another clinic.
The students was then presented with Chess boards on behalf of Hon Richard Kasunmu and awards were given to some extraordinary and skillful players that participated in the clinic.
