GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU, OTHERS, TO GRACE RETIRED PERMANENT SECRETARY’S BOOK LAUNCH ON AUGUST 5

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called YAYI, and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa are among dignitaries billed to attend the book launch of the immediate past Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku, slated for 5th of August, 2021.

The Book, which will be launched at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos, was co-authored by Dr. Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku and his son, Sewedo Mesewaku.

While Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is the Chief Guest of Honour at the Launch of the two books titled "Developing Lagos Tourism: Guiding Practices" and "VOTHUNO" (The Chief Priest of Badagry), the Honourable Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, will be the Chairman of Occasion.

In the same vein, the Chief Launchers are Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and former Chief of Air-Staff, Nigerian Air-Force, Air-Marshal, Nunayon Adesola Amosu (SFR).

In the foreword of the book - Developing Lagos Tourism (Guiding Practices) - Governor Sanwo-Olu said that the publication emerged at an appropriate time when there is a need to reshape some persisting flawed and stereotypical views about the tourism sector.

Sanwo-Olu said, "Just as our administration is poised to elevate the place of Tourism and tourism-related activities in the State, the book will be a critical guide to our policy-making and implementation".

The Governor, who expressed the belief that the book will go a long way in rekindling positive interest towards the tourism sector in Lagos State, also recommended the publication to all levels of government, academia, the business community and the general public.

Speaking on the two books, Dr. Olaide-Mesewaku, informed that “Developing Lagos Tourism: Guiding Practices” (co-authored with his son, Sewedo Mesewaku), was conceived with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration in mind to educate the world on the deep, cultural, arts and tourism opportunities that could attract and open different frontiers of investment opportunities.

On the Novel, titled: VOTHUNO (The Chief Priest of Badagry), the Author of the book, Dr. Olaide-Mesewaku said that the publication chronicled the Badagry socio-political and economic landscape of the pre-colonial Badagry and the vicissitudes that underlined its evolution within that period. VOTUNHO uses Badagry as a miniature Africa to recount the tragic experience of the enslaved Africans during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade in Africa.
