.... Benson Caught On Camera, As Lola Akande's Intervention Quashes Plot
By Akinwale Kasali
It took the political experience, sagacity and intelligence of Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Lagos State, Hon. Lola Akande, to salvage the situation at Oluwole, Ogba in Ojodu Local Council Development Area during last Saturday's All Progresssives Congress, APC, primaries.
Thouasands of voters had gathered to exercise their franchise mostly for their preferred Candidates, Alhaja Kafayat Funmilayo Layeni, KFL, as Chairman and Hon. Tunji Kogbodoku as Ward A Councilor.
From oblivion came the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Toke Benson, who wanted to forment trouble by disrupting the ongoing peaceful Electoral process.
Threatening fire and brimstone, that a Peaceful electoral process must be cancelled.
Reasons for this show and political calumny was the intimidating crowd Benson saw in support of KFL and Kogbodoku.
It however took the diplomatic intervention of Hon. Akande who was also on the queue to cast her vote for her preferred Candidate that salvage the situation.
As Hon. Akande called the APC Chairman do counter the claim of Benson, she was shouting on top of her voice that the peaceful Electoral process taking place must be cancelled.
In a video that went viral, the show of shame depicted by Benson, an ally of outgoing Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Julius Oloro, who also had been indicted of manipulating electoral officials to alter results of the Primaries but was exposed by the officials.
The video further exposed how Benson and Hon. Oloro was without reason telling the APC state chairman on the phone that there's crisis and that the election should be cancelled while Hon. Akande, was objecting the disruption.
The election later held at Ogba Primary School and the results showed the choice of the populace with KFL and Kogbodoku coming triumphant with huge margins.
