The Randle General Hospital, Surulere, has commenced the COVID-19 vaccination exercise for all its medical, frontline and non-medical health workers as part of efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic in the State.
Speaking at the commencement of the exercise, Dr. Aduke Odutayo, the Medical Director, Randle General Hospital, urged all residents to partake in the immunisation exercise, stressing that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine will help to improve their immune system against the disease.
She said Lagosians should disregard the baseless and unfounded rumours and misinformation about the vaccine, noting that the vaccine is highly beneficial to the populace and encouraged everyone to get vaccinated.
While noting that the people should never let down their guard concerning the vicious Coronavirus pandemic, Odutayo declared that all safety measures and protocols such as regular handwashing with soap and water, embracing personal hygiene, physical distancing and proper use of face masks must still be strictly adhered to even after taking the vaccine.
The health professionals in charge of administering the COVID-19 vaccine explained the need to always consider a patient's health condition before vaccination, maintaining that the medical history of a patient should be taken into consideration towards curtailing any side effects of the vaccine, which is usually mild and short-term.
Volunteers from the Heart-to-Heart Foundation assisted the vaccination team in administering the jabs to the frontline health workers and others captured in Phase One of the exercise.
