The General Manager, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), Tpl Funmi Osifuye, has called on Heads of Departments, Supervising Directors and District Officers of the Agency to work in harmony with one another and staff of sister agencies within the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development (MPP&UD) for sustainable development in the Physical Planning sector.
Osifuye, who made the call recently at a review meeting with the Agency’s management team, added that officers should internalise and execute the resolutions reached during the recently concluded MPP&UD retreat.
While noting that there is a need to focus on new developmental realities of Lagos State that are vital to the agency's operation, the General Manager stated that LASPPPA is poised to ensure a well-planned and resilient Lagos City-State through the implementation of the State's Physical Planning laws.
"We should own and act on the recommendations of the communique issued at the retreat and bring it to bear in the performance of our daily activities", he said.
Osifuye stated further that LASPPPA now has an expanded feedback mechanism and grievance redress channel that can be explored by members of the public in registering their dissatisfaction with the process of obtaining a planning permit or a breach of physical planning laws.
“The expanded feedback mechanism and grievance redress channel will assist us in effectively monitoring operations at our district town planning offices”, the General Manager said.
He maintained that improved compliance with Physical Planning regulations will help reduce and possibly halt the spate of building collapse and distressed structures in Lagos with attendant protection of lives and property.
