The General Manager, Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, has appealed to Accounting Officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the State Government, as well as service providers, for more effective collaboration to enable the Agency discharge its services more effectively.
Onafowote, who made the call today during a sensitisation programme organised by the Agency for Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers of some State-owned parastatal organisations on the deployment of e-Procurement Solution Modules, revealed plans by the Agency to integrate additional 97 Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the State Government on the e-Procurement platform this year.
He disclosed that the use of technology had assisted the Agency in driving government business, stating that 97 additional MDAs will be integrated on the e-Procurement platform this year in addition to the existing 10 MDAs.
The General Manager expressed satisfaction with the support of MDAs so far, pointing out that the Office had recently organised a training programme for the Procurement Officers of MDAs on the e-Procurement platform, as well as those whose procurement system is scheduled for integration in the first quarter of this year.
Onafowote urged the Accounting Officers to provide the tools required by Procurement Officers to effectively discharge their duties, stressing the need for teamwork and collaboration among MDAs to fast track delivery of services and seamless processing of payments to service providers.
Pointing out that the Agency recognises the dynamics involved in public procurement, the General Manager stated that a framework for dealing with the peculiarities of each procurement process has been instituted.
While commending the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his support, Onafowote attributed the success achieved by the Agency to the deployment of technology in carrying out its functions.
Permanent Secretaries, Directors-General, General Managers and other Chief Executive Officers of selected Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the State Government participated at the one-day sensitisation programme held at Protea Hotel, Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
