It was encomiums galore as the former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Arc. Foluso Adebayo Dipe bowed out of the Lagos State Public Service.

Dignitaries at the retirement ceremony held in Ikeja at the weekend paid glowing tributes to the retired Permanent Secretary for his diligence, professionalism and loyalty to the State Government.

The Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, in his tribute to the retired Permanent Secretary, stated that Arc. Dipe was a "quintessential professional and an administrator per excellence whose knowledge and wealth of experience in the built sector added tremendous value to government plans, policies and programmes over the years".

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako congratulated Arc. Dipe for his steadfastness and ensuring good work in the Ministry to achieve the ministerial mandate.

"I felicitate with him for having recorded loads of remarkable achievements and for keeping the Ministry as a bond in trust, which should never be discounted by anyone", he said.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development, Ganiyu Adele Ayuba described him as a role model in humility, gentility, thoroughness and perseverance as well as professionalism.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Abiola Kosegbe, in her welcome address, noted that Arc. Dipe was an accomplished professional, civil servant and a wonderful predecessor who rose to the pinnacle of his career by dint of hard work.

"As Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, you created an enabling work environment throughout my interactions with you during my tenure as the General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency; always available to give advice and guidance", she said.

Also paying glowing tribute to Arc. Foluso Dipe was the Oniru of Iruland, Oba AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, who stated that as the then Commissioner for Housing, he had a good working relationship with Arc. Dipe who was at the time the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing.

His words: "I am sure I do not speak alone when I say that the Lagos State Government will miss your craving for perfection, uncompromising nature, service, commitment to work and your invaluable experience".

In his response, Arc. Dipe considered himself fortunate to have worked in the Public Service of Lagos State which gave him the opportunity to contribute his quota to the growth of the system and provided him with a broader platform than anywhere else to reach a multitude of people.

Also retiring alongside Arc. Dipe was the Director Administration and Human Resources in the Ministry, Mrs. Folashade Lediju upon the attainment of age sixty.

She was equally praised for her dedication and transformative roles which facilitated the seamless workings of the Ministry.

Arc. Foluso Adebayo Dipe, a two-term Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, joined the Lagos State Civil Service as Architect on Grade 1 in February 1986 and rose through the ranks to become the Director of Architectural Services in year 2010.

He was appointed Permanent Secretary and deployed to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in 2015, but was later redeployed to the Ministry of Housing and back to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in 2019 where he retired on 18th February, 2021 after 35 meritorious years of service.
