The Methodist Church Nigeria in given effect to the decisions of the 47th/12th Bennial Conference that met on the 3rd December 2020 at the Diocese of Lagos Mainland on the election of bishops and the confirmation of the election of Archdiocesan and Laypresidents,consecrated and invested bishops with authority due their sacred offices.
The Secretary of conference The Rt Revd Michael Akinwale declared the purpose of their gathering.
The Methodist Church Nigeria made history by investing the first indigenous bishop in the North East.
In his Sermon The bishop of Ifaki The Right Rev J.S Aluko charged the newly invested bishops and lay presidents to have uncontraditry loyalty to the church and to believe in the Lord and will see them through.
The Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria His Eminence Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche while speaking to journalist said the Federal Government of Nigeria should do more in the security of the country,and also charged the newly installed bishops,lay President to always have hope in God and put God fist in whatever they do.
The newly consecrated Bishop of North East The Rt.Rev Dr John Shettima Chibok testified the fact that Methodist Church Nigeria is the first to reckon with and also explained how prelate Uche has been a source of Joy for him.
The newly consecrated Bishops are
1. The Right Rev. Dr. Sunday Olasoji Onadipe, Bishop, Diocese of Badagry. Formal Rector, at Methodist Theological Institute, Sagamu. He is a specialist in Homeletics; an astute Director of administration, Methodist Church Nigeria
2. The Right Rev. Dr. Moses Ekereobong, Bishop, Diocese of Adadia. Bishop Ekereobong is a specialist in Guidance and Counselling, and an experienced minister of the gospel.
3. The Right Rev. Dr. John S. Chibok . Bishop, Diocese of Igede. He is the first Methodist Bishop from the Northeast of Nigeria. He is a specialist in Interfaith Relations.
4. The Right Rev. Dr. Ekebuisi Chinonyerem, Bishop, Diocese of Ihube. Bishop Ekebuisi is a specialist in Theology and Church History. he is a master strategist in church development strategies, he never believe in impossible.
The newly consecrated lay President of Ereko Diocese who also doubles as the Permanent Secretary Ministry of information and strategy Lagos State explained that working for God has a lot of benefits, that he is ready to deliver his best to take Ereko Diocese to the next level through the assistance of God and the youths.
The Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria His Eminence Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche consecrated the bishops and lay presidents and also gave them certificate of office and also took the oat of allegiance in the presence of the whole Church.
