LNSA ORDERS PERSONNEL TO ADOPT COMPLEMENTARY ROLES DURING EMERGENCY OPERATIONS

The General Manager, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Agency, LNSA, Barrister Bajulaiye Adegboyega, has ordered officers of the Agency to always allow trained emergency responders handle emergency situations while restricting their operations to complementary services in and around the accident scene.

He explained that all neighbourhood officers should not be overzealous in emergency situations but should always render necessary assistance to the officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Lagos Fire Service and other first responders, who are trained in handling emergency cases and other related situations at every point in time.

Adegboyega stated that the directive was part of the outcome of a meeting with the Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who had equally expressed concern over the active but unnecessary involvement of LNSA officers in some aspects of emergency situations or accident scenes.

The Neighborhood Safety boss said, "As officers of LNSC, during emergency situations, you may cordon off the area to check the influx of people into the disaster zone but you don't have to be at the forefront of emergency scenes contending with the first responders".

While noting that the help of LNSA officers will always be required during such incidents, the General Manager warned that the Corps officers must, however, restrict their active participation to complementary roles as required by the first responders while also protecting themselves from avoidable risks.
