The Executive Chairman, IRU-Victoria Island LCDA, Hon. Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu joins the Oniru of IRU Land, His Royal Majesty, OBA Gbolahan Lawal (Abisogun 11) yesterday, at the Tree planting exercise done to commemorate his coronation.
Addressing the audience at the programme, HRM, OBA Gbolahan Lawal said, " Tree planting is very important in our environment as it help to safe lives and provides fresh Oxygen to the environment. In respect to this, we would be planting 1,995 tress in Oniru ; 455 Coconut tress and other seedlings.
"The planting of 1,995 trees will be achieved by giving individuals, organizations, household, landlords and associate seedlings to plant in their vicinity."
"Also, the Beach cleanup exercise will be done in order to reduce the usage of plastic in the environment and to recycle it for more benefits. I appreciate you all for coming, I can't achieve it all alone but with your ultimate support." HRM added.
Giving a short remark at the event, IRU-VI Council Chair said, "I will not stop appreciating HRM for these projects which are highly commendable and of good benefits to the people of IRU Land, Thank you very much your majesty."
" Tree planting is an annual ritual in Lagos State and its benefits is essential to our lives as it aid good oxygen in the environment, helps to safe lives and also a major content in medicines production. Its use for herbal medicines is also very important. With these, I can say when you plant a tree, you safe a life".
The Keynote speaker, Professor Babajide also expatiate on the importance of tree planting in our environment, state, country and the world at large. He urge everyone to unite in order to fight the climate change in our environment.
Distinguished Personalities present at the event includes; The Queen of IRU-Land, Olori Mariam Lawal, the Special Adviser to the Governor on SDG, Mrs Solape Amond, the Vice- Chairman of IRU-VI, Hon. Segun Ogunbiyi, Councillors, Royal chieftains amisdt others.
