Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf has commended the Executive members of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Lagos Chapter, for reviewing the Lagos State tourism master plan.
The Commissioner gave the commendation while receiving the reviewed document from the State Chapter Coordinator of FTAN, Mr. Gbenga Sunmonu, at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in Alausa, Ikeja, recently.
She applauded the Association for the time and resources committed to making the reviewed version a reality, describing FTAN members as partners and stakeholders who had worked hard in putting tourism on the right path in Lagos State and Nigeria.
Akinbile-Yussuf expressed confidence in the work done by FTAN, saying that the document would put the State on the world map of tourism.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu expressed his excitement over the development between the Ministry and FTAN, assuring the members of the Ministry’s cooperation as critical stakeholders, who have shown commitment to the development of Tourism across the State.
The FTAN Coordinator, Lagos Chapter, Mr. Gbenga Sunmonu extolled the developers of the master plan and the Lagos State Government for investing resources to come up with the document, adding that it, indeed, details the future of tourism in Lagos.
He said that the Association identified some gaps in the document and had advised the government accordingly, adding that FTAN also compressed the 107-page document into 42 pages for easy implementation by the State Government.
While urging the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism to implement policies that would further boost tourism development, Sunmonu said the stakeholders have also taken ownership of the document knowing that the industry players are the drivers of tourism in Lagos.
Recall that the Ministry had earlier in the year handed a 107-page document containing the Tourism Master Plan to FTAN to review and advise the government on how to successfully implement the contents of the document.
